Experios is a Melbourne based start-up founded in 2019.
The team at Experios has always had a passion for games and technology. With the combined experience and enthusiasm of the team members, the idea was born to start a business that combines both.
Experios initially started as City Discovery, with the aim to create and offer a fun outdoor escape room. Bringing people together to solve challenges, whilst at the same time discovering Melbourne.
As the pandemic started spreading, operations were shifted to creating and offering online escape rooms under the Virtual Escape name.
The first online escape room released was named Time's Ticking. It was played through the WhatsApp platform, where Experios created the WhatsApp group and invited players to join the group.
The Experios Games Master sent messages containing text, images, audio and more to the group. Players would then use this information to solve a variety of challenges.
Players would respond back to the Games Master with the answer, or if stuck, could request a hint.
The next game released was Ben's Big Heist, where players help a cleaner named Ben to rob a bank and retrieve money he thinks is rightfully his.
Ben's Big Heist also received an award for Best Puzzle Design 2020, by ESCAPETHEROOMers.
In December 2020, Experios switched their model from WhatsApp to an online portal.
In January 2021 Time's Ticking Jr got added, followed by Jack's Hangover in late March 2021.
Late in 2021 Mayday was released. In 2022, Virtual Trivia went live and City Discovery launched.
Experios online escape rooms are made with fun and teamwork in mind.
The escape rooms are unique in the fact that they require the players not just to use what they see on their screen, but also get creative and use websites such as Google, Wikipedia and others to find answers.
They take 60 minutes to complete and are played in teams of 2-6 players. Players must work together to find hidden clues, solve puzzles, and "escape the room".
As the escape rooms are online, they can be played from anywhere in the world, as long as players have a stable internet connection and are on the same video call.
In case the team did not successfully "escape" within 60 minutes, players can continue solving any unsolved challenges without it affecting their result.
The success rate fluctuates between 50 and 80%.
